We’re delighted to announce the we have been awarded a research grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the world’s leading breast cancer organisation.
The grant will support a project investigating how stiffness in breast tissue can drive the aggressive behaviour of cancer cells, and how tissue stiffness impacts on the effectiveness of breast cancer treatments
Breast tissue stiffness also plays a critical and under-explored role in breast cancer progression from it’s very beginning until the end. Furthermore, understanding what affects a breast cancer response to a particular therapy will allow us to improve our current treatment strategies. We know that breast tissue stiffness is critically important in breast cancer, and this project will focus on understanding and developing new approaches to targeting breast cancer tissue stiffness to improve the efficacy of already approved cancer therapies.
